OUR PROGRAMS

Youth Jiu-Jitsu

The 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu kids class curriculum is based on giving your kids the ability to walk around school with confidence, while gifting them the attributes of self- discipline, patience, and wellness. We focus on anti-bullying techniques and strive to prepare our youth to become leaders and productive members of their community. Jiu Jitsu for kids include many benefits such as increasing flexibility, muscle endurance, and development of problem-solving skills. Learning Jiu Jitsu promotes self-discipline while simultaneously increasing the use of problem solving skills and brain function.

No Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Planet Jiu Jitsu revolves around the concept of training without the use of the Kimono. Our belief is that this will bring our students a more realistic view of fighting and actual overall practicality of self-defense scenarios. Because we believe that you do not need the use of the Gi/Kimono to fully experience the essence of Jiu Jitsu, our philosophy branches off from the traditional and focuses on modern techniques that will mold you into a true martial artist.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was developed from Japanese Jiu Jitsu, the primary difference is that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based on the principles that a smaller human can defend and subdue a larger attacker using leverage and technique. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu primarily focuses on Gi(kimono) and uses joint manipulation and choke holds to encourage an attacker/opponent to concede. Both Gi an Nogi styles are martial arts that take place on the ground. The main difference between Gi and Nogi is Gi uses grips and slower style vs Nogi uses Over/Under hooks and a faster style.

OUR COACHES

Ron Turner

Professor Ron Turner began his Jiu-Jitsu journey over 25 years ago, earning a Black Belt in traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2006 and being promoted to the rank of Black Belt by professor Eddie Bravo in the 10th Planet System In 2015. Throughout his career, Ron has fought professionally, experiencing the highs and lows of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Now retired from professional fighting, he has used these skills and experiences to coach fighters at all levels from amateur to the UFC (but takes most pleasure in coaching the everyday Jiu-Jitsu practitioners)! With over two decades of experience in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, he is a dictionary of techniques, stories, and is every bit as passionate about Jiu-Jitsu, as he was when he first stepped on the mats!

Art Garcia

Black Belt
Art Garcia – Black Belt – first started training boxing at the age of 19, and quickly fell into the martial art of Brazilian Jiu jitsu, shortly after. He trained under Omar Delucca (Cleber Luciano affiliate), until he received his blue belt in 2012, and then made the transition to training full time at 10thPlanet Costa Mesa. He dove into the aspects of No-Gi Jiu jitsu, and competed regularly under the tutelage of Casey Halstead, and Dirty Ron Turner. Art received his purple belt in 2014 and once 10thPlanet Buena park was established, Coach Art began instructing fundamentals classes in what was known to be, The Boiler Room.

In 2016, Art Garcia left Orange County to pursue higher education in the city of San Francisco and began training under Eddie Bravo’s first black belt, Denny Prokopos and 10thPlanet San Mateo’s very own, Adam “Big Red” Sachnoff. He continued to compete in the Northern California Jiu Jitsu scene, representing 10thPlanet San Francisco. Arthur received his brown belt from Denny in 2017, and shortly after receiving his bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University, he returned home to Orange County to be the head instructor of 10thPlanet Buena Park.

Since coming back to Orange County, Art has competed on stages such as Ultimate Mat Warriors, Bullpen Submission Series and Sin City Scrap. He continues to pursue higher education and competes when he can. Currently, Coach Art is a black belt and instructs the adult fundamentals jiu jitsu, and kids jiu jitsu programs at 10thPlanet Fullerton. He also works as a support for differently abled children at a charter school in Orange County, and spends his spare time with his son, Luca.
